ABC’s America’s Funniest Videos (AFV) is the longest running TV show in American history having been on the air for over 17 seasons. Produced by Emmy award-winning Vin Di Bona Productions, AFV enters its record breaking 18th season on ABC with a new user-generated twist. In past seasons, videos were submitted to AFV by home video makers by sending in a tape. With the rise of sites such as YouTube and AFV’s being the grandfather of user-generated content before it was known as user-generated content, the new season will feature a complete new video upload and sharing community site, powered by DAVE’s S.O.C.I.A.L. Platform. Users will now be invited to upload via the new site with an easy-to-use web upload system. Other DAVE-powered features will include video encoding, video streaming, playlists, rating, comments, embed links and email a friend sharing. As with the ABC News i-Caught site, the AFV site will utilize DAVE’s extensive content management and workflow system as well as DAVE’s content moderation and review system and web-to-broadcast workflow system. Additional features include a privacy feature that allows ABC and Vin Di Bona Productions to be able to track privacy and release information with corresponding videos and video submitters.
